A good friend of mine, asked me if I wanted to design her a birth announcement card.

The idea that she had in mind was a vintage card (20’s). Because she also liked to have bright colors in the design, things need to be adjusted.

Eventually a colorful card came up with a touch of vintage and bohemian style. My best friend was pleased with the style and color of it. So was her boyfriend, who liked the mix of the 2 styles even tho he normally isn’t a big fan of the old vintage style.

While making the design of this card, there were quite a few challenges. Both she and her boyfriend are bilingual. She’s Flemish and he’s French. It was Important that both languages came on the card. To resolve this, I started from a standard card format. Each outer side contained the information about the baby. In the inner section of the card you could find specific information how to contact the parents, how to donate money and how buy stuff from a birth present list.

FYI: The content of the card is fictional because the name and other data wasn’t known yet at that time.
